The combination of sweet, salty and peppermint is just right. You can use white candy coating and roll them in crushed candy canes for a variety. Adapted from Quick Cooking magazine of Nov/Dec 2002.

- Ingredients:
- 2 cups ( 12-oz ) semisweet chocolate chips and or White candy coating
- 1 Tbs. shortening ( Crisco )
- 1 package ( 10-oz ) Pretzel rods
- 40 red and/or green candies, crushed or 40 peppermint candy canes crushed
Directions
- Place chocolate chips and shortening in a 2-cup microwave-safe cup; heat until melted. Stir until smooth. Break each pretzel rod in half dip the broken end about halfway into melted chocolate; roll in crushed candies. Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Chill until set.
