How to make it

  • Saute onion in butter till soft in a Dutch oven
  • Add cabbage slices and sausage
  • Add tomatoes and apples with bay leaf and vinegar
  • Cover tightly and simmer for about 2 hours
  • Before serving, skim off fat, remove bay leaf and correct seasoning
  • Serve in bowls with a good crusty bread
  • If there is any left, flavor improves with age!
