German version of hamurger steak

Ingredients
  • 1 x Hard Roll, Large, Dry
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 4 tsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 x Onion, Medium, Chopped
  • 1 lb Ground Beef, Lean
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 4 x Onion, Medium, Sliced

Directions
  1. In a small bowl soak roll in water.
  2. Heat 2 T vegetable oil in a frypan; cook chopped onion until lightly browned.
  3. Transfer onion to a bowl.
  4. Squeeze roll as dry as possible and mix roll with onion.
  5. Add ground beef; blend well.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Shape meat in to 4 patties; cook about 5 minutes on each side or to desired doneness.
  8. Remove and keep warm. Add sliced onions to pan drippings; cook until lightly browned.
  9. Arrange beefsteaks on a platter and top with onion rings.
