This is a nice 'recipe', but the only really true way to obtain true Holy water is to have the water blessed by a priest. In fact, your parish should have a vessel filled with Holy water that you are able to fill your own container for personal use. Hope you don't think I'm criticizing - I've been a life-long Catholic and have tried to educate myself along the way. It is always appropriate for lay people to bless things or persons, but some things can only be done/made by a priest, such as Holy water, performing baptisms, etc. 5 forks for sharing this, especially the Latin versions of some very popular prayers! ~ Natalie

This is great keep it up. Holy water is that which has been holy blessed and if you are not catholic then catholic holy water would be just water , at least to me. I love the recipe and am sorry so many have dumped on it. Keep up the good works and poo on those nay sayers!!! Bright Blessing.

Hi Natalie - the reason why I make my own holy water is because our Priest is not to be trusted the one we use to see. He was stealing from others and also not doing mass properly. He was also caught out being with another woman. So that means if my holy water came from him it would only be null to me and not sacred at all. My godmothers father was a Greek Orthodox Priest in Greece and she does everything at home on her own also. As long as you are true it's all that matters. Aussie
