Ingredients
  • 2 large head cabbage, grated into small pieces
  • 2 heaping tbsp.salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp. pepper
  • *Square or bowtie egg noodles
  • smoked sausage or keilbasi
  • fresh garlic can be added if desired.
  • 1 small onion can be grated into cabbage while cooking if desired.

Directions
  1. In a large bowl put grated cabbage.
  2. Sprinkle salt over top. Let stand about 45 minutes until juice forms
  3. In a large pot, add vegetable oil. Squeeze juice out of cabbage and place in pot.
  4. Add pepper.
  5. add onion and garlic if desired.
  6. add sausage when cabbage becomes transparent.
  7. Sautee until golden brown, stirring frequently.
  8. In Large pot, boil noodles. Drain.
  9. Add noodles to cabbage mixture. Mix well.
  10. Enjoy!!
  11. *Egg noodles can be purchased at most European deli's

This looks fabulous too, Papriamama! I love cabbage and noodles, but most of the recipes I have include sour cream or cream and tons of butter. This version is MUCH easier on the waistline! Thanks.
