How to make it

  • Boil in enough water to adequately cover for 3 hours: beef, burgandy, onion, salt, bayleaf, and pepper corns.
  • Next remove bones and break up meat into chunks.
  • Add the potatoes, carrots, celery, garlic, and barley.
  • Simmer unti done.
  • Thicken with 1 to 2 table soons flour stirred into 1/2 cup water then stirred into the stew.
  • Simmer 10 minutes longer.
  • Sprinkle on parsley to taste after stew is done cooking.
