Fried Corn Meal Mush with Butter and Maple Syrup

- 6 cups water shopping list
- 2 cups cornmeal shopping list
- 2 cups cold water shopping list
- 1/3 cup butter shopping list
- 2 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- flour, for coating shopping list
- 1 tablespoon oil shopping list
How to make it
- Bring water to a boil. Combine cornmeal, cold water, butter, salt, and cinnamon. Add to boiling water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Pour into greased loaf pan. Refrigerate overnight.
- Cut into 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick slices. Coat with flour. In frying pan, over medium heat, brown both sides in oil.
- Serve with butter and maple syrup as you would pancakes
