Sweet Dough Twists

- 4-1/2 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour, sifted shopping list
- 9 oz (250 ml) water shopping list
- 5 Tbsp. brown sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract shopping list
- 10-1/2 oz (300 ml) vegetable oil for frying shopping list
How to make it
- Mix the flour with 9 oz (250 ml) of water to make a dough.
- Dissolve sugar in a little water.
- Beat eggs and mix with sugar and vanilla extract.
- Stir into dough.
- Knead the batter until smooth and elastic.
- Turn onto greased surface and roll into a long roll and cut into 10 round pieces.
- Roll each piece into a small strip.
- Fold each strip double and twist into a yarn-like stick.
- Heat oil in a deep wok to about 230 degrees.
- Deep-fry dough twists slowly until lightly browned and crisp.
- Remove, drain well, and serve.
- I like to sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and confectioners' sugar over these.
