Grasshopper Cake

- 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 3/4 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 3/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 large eggs (lightly beaten) shopping list
- 3/4 cups warm water shopping list
- 1/2 cups whole milk shopping list
- 1/4 cups sour cream shopping list
- 1/3 cups unsalted butter (melted) shopping list
- 3/4 tsp pure vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 °F. Butter an 8" X 12" cake pan.
- Whisk cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in eggs, warm water, milk, sour cream, butter and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean, 35 - 40 min. Let cake cool in pan on a wire rack for 15 min. Invert cake on to rack, and let cool. Slice just before serving.

This is delicious. The cake has a nice deep chocolate flavor, not too sweet, and is very moist. I used 2 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract and increased the butter by a small amount. For frosting I made a peppermint flavored buttercream. The cake is so good...more
