Classic Dark Ginger Cake

- 6oz butter shopping list
- 6oz brown sugar shopping list
- 6oz Treacle shopping list
- 6oz golden syrup shopping list
- 1 lb flour shopping list
- 1 Tbsp ground ginger shopping list
- 1 Tsp Bicarbonate soda dissolved into a little water shopping list
- milk to Mix (100ml milk mixed into 100 ml of water) shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Add Treacle, Golden syrup and brown sugar to a saucepan and heat either on the oven hob or microwave, on medium heat until the mixture softens.
- 2. Add the flour, butter, bicarbonate soda, Milk to mix, into a bowl and mix together stirring it with a wooden spoon.
- 3. Add the heated treacle and syrup to the rest of the mixture in the bowl and stir the mixture until it has a soft, runny texture.
- 4. Pre-heat the oven
- 5. add grease proof paper to a baking tray, coat the grease proof paper with a little bit of butter. add the mixture onto the tray spreading it out evenly.
- 6. Bake in the over on a low-medium heat for about 1-30 mins, until cake is well risen, brown and firm.
- 7. You can add some preserved ginger root for decoration.
