Pilau Masala Recipe
Pilau is a native Rawandan dish taught to me by a good friend. It has become a favorite at home. Simple and easy to make

Ingredients
  • 2 cups rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 Tablespoon Pilau Marsala spice
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large pepper (color of your choice)
  • 2 large carrots peeled and diced
  • 1-2 stalks celery diced
  • 1-2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • Boca grounds, thawed (if you like) or beans(cooked) of your choice

Directions
  1. Put rice, water and spice in a large pan and cook as you do your rice.
  2. In a saute pan put the remaining ingredients except bean/boca grounds. saute unlil soft and lightly browned. Put into rice, mix and cook until all fluid is absorbed. Just before serving mix in beans or boca grounds. Serve in bowls.
  3. The spice is woody and deep. I know a Tablespoon sounds like a lot, try it first. then adjust as you like it the next time you make it.
