Many years ago I was attending a sales convention in Lima when the military decided they needed a change of government. About 3:00 AM we were awakened by the sound of tanks rumbling through the streets and small arms fire. After the old SA hands got the turistas calmed down boredom started to set in. Things went well enough until the hotel started to run out of decent booze. Now things were getting serious. Pisco is a brandy that the Peruvians and Chileans think is God’s gift but most gringos are not that fond of. When we got down to the Pisco some drastic steps needed to be taken. The APSA Peruvian Sunrise is the result. Fortunately we were allowed to leave before we ran out of Pisco. Actually, it’s quite a refreshing cocktail that was indeed created just after sunrise by a group of Peruvian Airlines sales types. Enjoy. See less
