Beefy Spanish Rice

- 1 to 1 1/2 lbs lean hamburger shopping list
- 1 cup uncooked white rice (converted rice is great) shopping list
- 1 chopped green pepper shopping list
- 1 clove garlic (or more if you are a garlic lover) shopping list
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes shopping list
- 2 cups water shopping list
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- 1 to 2 ts chili powder depending on tastes shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Heat large skillet that has a lid to fit to medium high and brown the hamburger
- As hamburger begins to brown add the chopped green pepper and garlic to the skillet.
- If necessary drain the hamburger and return to stove.
- Add the water, diced tomatoes, rice, tomato paste, chili powder, salt and pepper and bay leaves.
- Stir it a bit to mix it all together
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 25 minutes.
- Remove bay leaves and serve and enjoy.
- I have also put it in tortilla's for a beefy spanish rice burrito which is very tasty to me anyways. :)

This is very similar to what I grew up having. It's one of my comfort foods.
