Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine vanilla wafer crumbs, the pecans, the confectioner’s sugar and the cocoa powder;
  • Combine the bourbon (or rum) and corn syrup; stir into the dry mixture. If mixture appears too dry, add more light corn syrup or a little more bourbon/rum;
  • When thoroughly blended, cover and refrigerate for at least an hour;
  • Shape dough into balls, maybe two teaspoons per ball. Roll each ball in powdered sugar, cocoa powder, finely shredded coconut, or finely chopped nuts;
  • Store in the refrigerator.

    I made this recipe and it turned out great! I did add 1 more tablespoonful of rum because it was too dry. Simple to make and you can substitute most anything to your pleasing. I like the vanilla wafers with nuts. I did roll in cocoa but plain is better IMO.

    I've been looking for this recipe -- it was my mother-in-law's favorite Xmas treat. And I wondered if rum would work. (she never mentioned cocoa) thank you!!

    My mom never put them in the fridge...swore by leaving them in cookie tins for 3 days before eating. They always tasted super "rum" like, and very very tasty! Maybe these are different? (yum!)
