How to make it

  • Mix and bake cake mix as directed (round pans).
  • While warm, crumble cake in bowl.
  • Mix in frosting and coconut flakes.
  • Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  • After chilled, form 1" round balls (about 100), and place on parchment/waxed paper.
  • Freeze at least 6 hours.
  • Using double boiler, melt chocolate.
  • Working in small batches (2-3 balls) dip in chocolate and place back on parchment paper. Quickly add topping of choice (sprinkles, coconut flakes, etc).
  • Variations:
  • Toppings: Sprinkles, coconut flakes, nuts, chopped sunflower seeds, lined icing, etc.
  • Fillings: Substitute coconut flakes with raspberries or orange zest, add chambord or grand marnier to dipping chocolate or frosting, etc
