How to make it

  • Sift the dry ingredients together . Add the almond and vanilla extracts to the yolk batter. Now add the dry ingredients to the yolks, alternating with the cup of water. Next, gently fold the yolk batter into the whites, and pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
  • The recipe suggested 1 hour. I checked the cake at 40 minutes, and it was almost done. ( My tube pan was very dark)

    Hey Missy...
    Hand over the chocolate and nobody will get hurt :)
    I usually whack the eggs on the counter top and then let them slide right through the fingers.
    ~and~
    of course I would opt for the Grand Mariner over plain vanilla,and then spice it up a tad with two different kinds of nuts and a combination of spices.
