Ingredients

How to make it

  • Place rice, almonds and cinnamon stick in blender and blend using pulverize(or similar) setting, until a coarse powder forms.
  • Add honey, lime juice and vanilla and blend well.
  • Slowly add water and continue to blend well until cloudy and well combined.
  • Strain mixture through fine sieve or cheesecloth and serve over ice.
  • Garnish with nutmeg or lime zest, if desired.

    Thus the straining well, Elgourmand... if you don't, you will be drinking chalk...I wouldn't recommend that. ;) You can also grind the rice in a coffee grinder(I have one I use only for spices), then proceed with the recipe. Horchata is a popular drink, but it's not for everyone, that's for sure. :)

    Maybe some folks is havin trouble with the raw rice. I reckon a couple shots of dark rum will help. I gotta try this just to see if you're pullin my leg. RJ
