Caramel Shortcake

- 1 (8 ounce) butter shopping list
- 1 (4 ounce) sugar shopping list
- 1 (12 ounce) plain flour shopping list
- 1 (8 ounce) butter or margarine shopping list
- 1 (4 ounce) sugar shopping list
- 4 tablespoons syrup shopping list
- 410 g cans sweetened condensed milk shopping list
- 1 (8 ounce) chocolate shopping list
- 1 (1 ounce) butter shopping list
How to make it
- 1.base. first 3 ingredients.
- 2.cream fat and sugar. add the flour and stir to make a mixture that is soft and will go together when squashed. lightly knead and then roll out or place into a deep swiss roll tin and press into place with the palm of your hand until even.
- 3.prick all over with a fork.
- 4.bake in the oven for 25mins gas4.
- 5.cool in the tin.
- 6.filling. middle 4 ingredients.
- 7.place the filling ingredients into a pan and bring slowly to the boil.
- 8.stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- 9.once boiling keep on a slow boil stirring all the time for about 5-7mins.
- 10.caramel should be thick and golden.
- 11.leave to cool.
- 12.when cool pour over the biscuit mixture and leave to set.
- 13.topping. last 2 ingredients.
- 14.melt the chocolate and butter over a pan of simmering water.
- 15.spread over the top of the caramel layer.
- 16.cut into squares or fingers once set.
- 17.do not be put off by the stages very easy and worth the wait. it looks like you have been in the kitchen and slaving over the cooker for hours. you will get compliments with this one.
