Chicken Cacciatore

- 3 lbs broiler fryer chicken cut up shopping list
- 1/2 cup olive oil shopping list
- 1/2 cup flour shopping list
- 2 cups sliced onion shopping list
- 1 cup chopped green pepper shopping list
- 5 cloves garlic ,minced shopping list
- 3/4 cup merlot shopping list
- 1 can (28 oz.) diced tomato shopping list
- 1 16 oz can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 10 oz. package sliced mushrooms shopping list
- 1/4 tsp oregano shopping list
- 2 tbs sugar shopping list
- salt ,pepper to taste shopping list
- hot,buttery white rice shopping list
How to make it
- in large skillet,working in batches,dredge chicken part in flour ,cook over medium heat till browned,about 20 minutes
- set chicken aside and add onion, pepper ,garlic, cook over medium
- till tender,add wine cook till reduced and syrupy...about 10 minutes
- add remaining ingredients bring to boil reduce and add chicken pieces ,simmer 30 minutes ,covered, or till thickest pieces are fork tender serve hot with rice and parmasean cheese
