How to make it

  • Cut bread into ¾ inch slices, and then cut slices in half diagonally.
  • In a shallow dish, make a batter of the beaten egg, salt, cream, and sugar.
  • Dip bread in batter, and then fry to a golden brown in hot deep fat oil.
  • Remove and drain.
  • Sprinkle with fruit, maple syrup, or honey, and serve.
