Homemade Caramel Apples

- 10-12 Popsicle sticks shopping list
- 10-12 medium sized apples shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter shopping list
- 2/3 cup heavy cream shopping list
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup shopping list
- 2 T maple syrup shopping list
- 1 T dark molasses shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- pinch of salt shopping list
How to make it
- Line a baking sheet with non stick aluminum foil or regular foil and lightly oil or butter it
- Put a popsicle stick into each stem end of apple
- In a deep, heavy saucepan,combine suger,butter,cream,corn syrup,maple syrup, molasses, vanilla and pinch of salt
- Place over medium-high heat
- Stir gently with a wooden spoon
- Bring to a boil and cook until the mixture registers 236 degrees on a thermometer, about 5-7 minutes
- Remove from heat and let cool to 180 degrees
- One at a time, dip the apples into the hot caramel
- Let excess drip off the bottom
- Set them on the prepared baking sheet
- If the caramel slides off the first apple, let the mixture cool for a little longer and try again
- Let cool completely to set the caramel
- These will keep uncovered in the fridge for up to 3 days
