How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs one at atime, beating weil.
  • Add salt and vanilla.
  • Mix in sifted flour.
  • Pour into greased floured tube pan.
  • Bake at 325 degrees for one hour and ten minutes.
  • Remove from the oven.
  • Pierce the cake thoroughly with a chopstick.
  • Glaze cake while it is still hot.
  • Mix sugar water and butter.
  • Heat until the sugar disssolves.
  • cook five minutes longer.
  • Take off heat and add the bourbon.
  • Pour over the cake.
  • Cool completely in the pan before attempting removal.
