Savory Cottage Cheese Dip/spread

- ½ large carton of lowfat cottage cheese shopping list
- 2 tablespoons lowfat sour cream shopping list
- garlic salt* shopping list
- onion powder* shopping list
- dried chives* shopping list
- black pepper* shopping list
- *I don’t really measure the seasonings - just estimate. I just add a bit at a time and keep tasting until the flavor is where I want it to be. shopping list
- *2 cups of stemmed fresh spinach (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- In a food processor (a traditional blender or an immersion blender would also work, I’m sure) combine the cottage cheese and sour cream.
- Pulse a few times to start to break down the curds in the cottage cheese and incorporate the sour cream.
- Add seasonings, starting with (all approx.) 1/8 teaspoon of the pepper, ¼ teaspoon of the garlic salt and onion powder and 1 teaspoon of chives.
- Pulse a few times to incorporate the seasonings and continue to smooth the texture.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Continue to pulse until the texture is relatively smooth and the consistency is not too thick, not too thin.
- Enjoy on sandwiches, burgers, as a dip for chips or vegetables, with cooked chicken in a lettuce cup and anything else you can think of.
- *If using the optional fresh spinach, put this in the food processor first and pulse a few times to break it down. Then proceed with the remaining steps.
