Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line a cookie sheet with foil or parchment and spray with a Pam type spray.
  • Break up saltines in large pieces and layer bottom of cookie sheet to cover all the foil or parchment. (Sometimes I lay out all the whole saltines, and then stick my finger in the center of each to break them up. Seems easier that way, and strangely satisfying if you've had a bad day).
  • In saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with brown sugar until dissolved and incorporated.
  • Pour this mixture evenly over the saltines and bake for 8 minutes, or until bubbly.
  • Remove cookie sheet from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let sit for 10 minutes, then spread chocolate to cover.
  • Put cookie sheet in refrigerator until cold.
  • When cool and hard just break it up and eat.
  • I recommend having several people on hand when this is ready to go, so as to avoid the shame of eating the ENTIRE batch.
