Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine cream, half and half, cheese, garlic, dill, cayenne and nutmeg in medium saucepan.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring often, until cheese melted and sauce thickens, slightly, and set aside.(you can add a touch of a corn starch slurry, if desired, but I didn't. The sauce will thicken, slightly, upon standing.)
  • Lightly oil a 9X13 baking dish.
  • Place half of potatoes to cover bottom of pan, slightly overlapping is fine.
  • Add a layer of half of the onion slices over potatoes.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Add half of the pork cubes.
  • Drizzle with juice from half a lemon.
  • Pour half of the cheese sauce over these layers. See Photo
  • Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  • Bake at 400 for about an hour and 10 minutes or so, until potatoes are tender. See Photo
  • Let rest for about 10 minutes to set. This might not always serve up beautifully, but it sure is tasty! :)
