- 500g pork or stewing beef, cubed. shopping list
- 3 large onions, roughly chopped shopping list
- 500ml red or white wine shopping list
- 1 stock cube - doesn't matter what sort shopping list
- Veg - usually green beans, carrots, peas. shopping list
- potatoes, peeled and cut as you would for roasties. shopping list
- Worcester sauce to taste shopping list
- soy sauce to taste shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- In a large casserole or saucepan, heat the oil and fry the onions on a high heat for 2 minutes. Add the cubed meat and fry for a further couple of minutes until sealed.
- Add the wine, stock cube - then leave to simmer for an hour or so - until the meat is tender.
- Add all the other ingredients - plus more liquid if required, adjusting the seasoning to taste.
- Simmer for another 20 minutes, until the potatoes are done.
- Serve with crusty bread
- If you like a thicker gravy, stir in a little cornflour, added to a bit of water, before serving
