Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oil in deep pan or deep fryer to 375°F.
  • Open tube(s) of biscuits and separate.
  • Using a 1" cutter, cut out a hole in center of each biscuit.
  • OR if you want to do filled donuts, leave as is to fry.
  • Gently lower 2-3 donuts into hot oil, fry for a minute or so, flip over using the handle of a wooden spoon through center hole; if no hole, then just flip over gently with bowl of wooden spoon.
  • When frying the 'holes', turn them over gently with spoon.
  • Using tongs, gently remove from hot oil and place on rack with paper towels to drain. Let cool til you can handle them.
  • If you choose to frost them: Combine confectioners' sugar, cocoa, butter and coffee in medium bowl.
  • Mix until smooth, then place donuts, one at a time, in bowl & gently turn in circular motion to coat the tops.
  • If you want other than chocolate, omit the cocoa and add your desired flavoring.
  • If desired, apply sprinkles by dipping the frosted top into a wide, shallow bowl of sprinkles.
  • To make sugared donuts, place granulated sugar/confectioners' sugar/cinnamon sugar in deep bowl or paper bag, add donuts one at a time and shake to cover.
  • For filled donuts: Use your favorite jelly or cream filling.
  • Use a straw to poke hole halfway into the donut, then pipe filling through pastry tip into the hole.
  • Can then also sprinkle with desired sugar topping or frost as above. One package of biscuits makes 8 donuts and 8 holes, or 8 filled donuts.
