From Cherrill 12 years agoIngredients
- For the stock: shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce shopping list
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce shopping list
- 2 stock cubes - can be chicken, veg, etc., shopping list
- 2 teaspoons sugar shopping list
- 2 pints water shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
- Veg - sliced onion, carrot, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, Chinese leaves or any salad leaf......................These are my favourites but any veg works shopping list
- Meat of your choice: e.g., shopping list
- Diced chicken shopping list
- Thinly sliced beef, pork, etc., shopping list
How to make it
- Bring the water to the boil and add the fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar and stock cubes.
- Taste and add salt - and add more of the stock ingredients to suit your preference.
- If you are using uncooked chicken, add it now and simmer for 10 mins.
- Add the veg you have chosen that take the longest to cook.
- Now add the thinly sliced meats of your choice.
- When they are almost cooked, add the salad leaves, spinach, etc.
- Serve in bowls - tradition is that you pop a chicken leg in the bowl jauntily standing up to one side, and eat it with your fingers.
- Another way to go is to have an indoor/outdoor Thai BBQ. Have a burner on the centre of the table, already having made the stock and bring it to a simmer on the table.
- Chop all the meats and veg in advance and arrange them in dishes on the table.
- Cook on the table and encourage your guests to participate.
- This can be a simple meal - or you can serve it with rice, breads, salsas.
