Chicken Fried Steak Coating

I duplicated a New Orleans,( Frank Davis ) chicken fried steak coating with ingredients I saw on a bottle. I initially I used it on chicken breasts ( photo ) and then on steak. It's a really an interesting texture, frys up golden, not fluffy but firm and crispy and I like it! Read more Serve your entree with milk gravy if desired. Use the coating to fry up other things such as fish, vegetables, etc. See less
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 1/4 cup corn flour ( not cornmeal ) shopping list
- 1 Tbs cornstarch shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp garlic powder shopping list
- 1 tsp onion powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp white pepper shopping list
- 2 eggs fork beaten shopping list
- peanut or grapeseed oil to fry shopping list
How to make it
- Dip meat in flour mixture, shake off excess
- Dip in egg and then into flour mixture to coat well
- Shake off excess
- Fry your meat in hot oil till golden and cooked on each side
- Note: esp. when using chicken breasts, be sure its even thickness for best frying.
