Saucy Baked Beans Recipe
Good quality all-beef wieners or cubed salt pork can be added to the slow cooker for a more carnivorous take. However this recipe is hearty in it’s own right.

Ingredients
  • 3 (19 ounce) cans navy beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 onion, peeled and chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup tomato juice (I used V8)
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar (I used dark brown sugar)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 bay leaves

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in crock-pot. Cover and cook on Low until beans are bubbling and have thickened, about 6 hours. Discard bay leaves before serving.

These beans sound really good...


I am definetly going to make this! I bet if you spoon it over rice and cover with shredded cheddar cheese it's a fabulous meal!!!
