Kit Kat Brownies

My friend gave me a recipe for brownies using snack size Kit Kat (chocolate and crispy wafers ) candy bars. I altered the recipe to my liking. I bet it tastes just as great as hers. I just used chocolate chips instead of butterscotch chips and a few other changes ( see recipe ) Also the smaller photo shows baked brownies with the kit kat without glaze or crushed Kit Kat topping - looks good too!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 3/4 cup flour shopping list
- 3/4 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla ( I added ) shopping list
- 3/4 cup melted butter shopping list
- 24 snack size Kit Kat bars ( I divided them- see instructions ) shopping list
- 11oz pkg butterscotch morsels, melted ( I used chocolate chips ) shopping list
- 1 Tbs chocolate jimmies ( I omitted and used crushed Kit Kats ) shopping list

How to make it
- In a large bowl, mix sugar, flour, cocoa, eggs, and melted butter until thoroughly combined
- Pour into a parchment paper lined 9 inch square baking dish.
- Press ( enough ) candy bars into top of batter- I spaced evenly and did not use all 24- saved 3 or 4 for the topping )
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 25 minutes.
- Remove and cool.
- Spread melted butterscotch chips ( I used chocolate ) over top of brownies (brownies can be warm still) and sprinkle immediately with chocolate jimmies( I omitted )
- Allow to cool completely before cutting
- Note: I did not used parchment paper ( used a a baking spray instead )
- Also if chilled the topping gets too hard so let them come back to room temperature prior to serving.
