How to make it

  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
  • Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  • Combine applesauce, egg and buttermilk, add to above.
  • Mix together but do not beat!
  • Spread into a greased 9” x 13” pan.
  • Arrange fruit, overlapping, on top.
  • Combine sugar, cinnamon and cloves, sprinkle on top.
  • Pour butter evenly over all this.
  • Bake at 400F for 35 mins or until fruit is tender.
