How to make it

  • grind meats using a food processor, transfer to bowl. Add shallot, garlic, lemongrass, jalapeno and herbs to processor and pulse until finely chopped - add to meat mixture. Season meat with soy, fish sauce and sugar and mix in cornstarch. Taste test by cooking a tiny little piece in a saute pan. Adjust seasonings as needed. Place in fridge for at least an hour.
  • Divide meat mixture into small patties that will fit with however long you slice your baguettes. Sear patties in a little canola oil over med-high heat, until golden brown on each side, slightly caramelized.
  • Assemble with bread and toppings.

    i love traditional bahn mi but i live in an area that's not so ethnic food filled. this recipe will allow me the freedom to approximate the flavors with what i have. thanks!
