How to make it

  • Prepare cake mix according to the directions on the package and bake in a cake pan.
  • While baking, prepare butter frosting as follows. Mix butter, 2/3 c. powdered sugar, 2 Tbsp milk and vanilla. Then add additional 2 c. powdered sugar and milk as needed, until combined.
  • Cool cake on wire rack, then crumble into a large mixing bowl. Add butter frosting and mix until combined.
  • Drop mix into 1 and 1/2" mounds onto a baking sheet covered in wax paper. Roll into balls & freeze overnight.
  • Heat candy coating & baking chocolate in a small saucepan. Pour over cake balls & allow to harden.
  • Once set, place in wax paper-lined, airtight container & store in fridge up to 1 week or freeze up to 1 month.
