Ingredients

How to make it

  • over medium-low heat warm olive oil
  • sweat onion and move to one side of pot
  • add garlic on other side and soften
  • IF YOU BROWN OR BURN ANY OF THIS SWEAR IF YOU LIKE BUT THROW IT OUT AND START OVER trust me
  • add celery, carrots and pepper and saute it all together now 4-5 minutes. You may need to add a bit more oil at this point
  • Add can of tomato paste and stir all thoroughly (this is why I think my sauce is so thick, adding it here makes a HUGE difference, it blew me away.
  • Add spices/sweetener and stir
  • Add all tomato cans
  • Add broth litlle by little stirring constantly
  • cook for 3 hours with lid off stirring occassionally if not using meat cook for 5 with the last 2 lid on
  • If adding meats and any all of optional ingridients:
  • cook ground sirloin halfway
  • add sausages and mushrooms
  • finish cooking sirloin
  • and drain well
  • sausages will NOT be cooked through
  • add meat/mushrooms to sauce
  • add wine
  • cook 2 hours with lid on
  • don't forget the savor the way your house smells!
  • Enjoy:))))

This is amazing!!!! I will definitely try this - hadn't even noticed the veggie-sneaking-in aspect! (Thanks ML2C) I was too busy drooling!
And I will go for the optional additions too.

I may well have found MY perfect spaghetti sauce. I'll let you know!
    Thanks
    Susan
