How to make it

  • Turn oven on to 200F.
  • Start making dough by putting yeast in bowl with warm water. Stir and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add Sugar, Eggs, shortening, salt. Stir
  • Put 2 c of the flour in and stir.
  • Put the rest of flour in and get your hands in there and mix it up kneading.
  • Turn off oven.
  • Put bowl on a cookie sheet and cover with a dry towel. Place in oven for 60 minutes.
  • While dough is in oven you are going to make your filling.
  • Brown meat with onion.
  • Add seasonings and Worcestershire, stir.
  • Put shortening in and water. Place cabbage on top and cover.
  • You will simmer for about 15-20 minutes stirring frequently until cabbage is cooked.
  • When dough is done punch down and form into balls
  • Roll out the dough and with a slotted spoon place about half a cup of meat mixture in middle and about a fourth of a cup of cheese or more depending on how you like cheese.
  • Fold up middle and then ends
  • Trim off extra dough as needed. Seal and place on cookie sheet.
  • In oven at 350 they take 10-15 minutes until lightly browned.
  • Soooo yummy we eat with ketchup. Sounds weird but awesome!
