How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses and beat well.
  • Stir all dry ingredients together, add to creamed mixture.
  • Stir in water.
  • Cover dough and refrigerate one hour.
  • Flour rolling pin and board.
  • Roll dough out about 1/8” thickness. Cut out gingerbread figures and place ½” apart on ungreased sheets. Dough can be re-rolled several times.
  • Bake 8 minutes. Remove cookies immediately to wire racks and cool completely.

    Looks like we were both thinking about Ginger type cookies last night. My son actually made a patch of ginger snaps- Friday night is his pick for a sweet to usually make with me but lately he has been doing most of the baking on his own ( measuring, mixing) hasn't got gathering the ingredients down :)
