Japanese Restaurant Salad Dressing
From MrsJ 9 years agoIngredients
- 1/4 C Japanese or Korean mayonnaise shopping list
- 1 T seasoned rice vinegar shopping list
- 1 t honey shopping list
- 1 t toasted sesame oil shopping list
- sea salt and white pepper, to taste shopping list
- 3 T masago (seasoned fish eggs) shopping list
How to make it
- Mix together all ingredients and serve over salad.
- Original Recipe: 1/4 C Japanese mayo; 2 T rice vinegar; 2 t sugar; 1/4 t toasted sesame oil; salt and pepper; and 2 T masago.
- Note: You can find masago in the freezer at the Asian Super Store. They are the little orange fish eggs commonly found in some Japanese salad dressings, which make it "pop" in your mouth (physical sensation). Japanese mayo seems less sweet and more creamy and thick like homemade mayo according to my own taste. I used the Kewpie brand, which unfortunately has MSG. I will make my own next time (egg yolks only, and rice or apple cider vinegar).
