Cabbage And Noodles... My Way

- 8 oz. (1/2 bag) of egg noodles shopping list
- 1 pound ground beef shopping list
- 1 small head of cabbage shopping list
- 1 large sweet onion shopping list
- 1 apple of your choice shopping list
- 1 large clove garlic shopping list
- 1/2 stick butter (or a bit more, I use close to a whole stick) shopping list
- 1/4 cup brown sugar ( can use less) shopping list
- 2 TBS cider vinegar shopping list
- salt shopping list
- fresh ground black pepper shopping list
- sour cream shopping list
How to make it
- Chop cabbage up fine
- Slice onion into thin slices
- Finely chop garlic
- Peel and finely dice apple
- Start a pot of boiling water to cook noodles according to package directions, or to al dente. **** Be sure and wait to cook your noodles just shortly before the meat and cabbage mix is finished, this will assure nice, not so sticky cold noodles. Nobody likes that!!!
- -Brown the ground beef in a large frying pan, season to taste with salt and pepper. When browned, remove from pan, drain and set aside.
- -Add butter to pan over medium heat.
- -Add cabbage and onion, salt and pepper to taste,cover and cook until -tender until tender.
- -Uncover and add garlic and continue to cook uncovered until cabbage and onions begin to caramelize and lower heat a bit
- -Add vinegar, apple and brown sugar and mix well, continue cook until apple is tender and most of the moisture is gone.
- -Add the beef back to pan and heat through.
- At this point, put hot cooked noodles, cabbage, meat and onion mix in a large bowl and mix together well.
- Serve with sour cream and a nice crusty bread for a simple, tasty "stick to your ribs" meal.
