Margret’s Special Teriyaki Marinade

- 2 cups of heavy, mushroom type, soy sauce. You can use Kikkoman but use half as much water. shopping list
- 1 cup tap water with mushroom type soy & ½ cup with Kikkoman. I use Kikkoman, light soy, a lot when putting it directly on food or spicing up a soup, etc. but the mushroom stuff has a stronger flavor & works better here. shopping list
- 1 cup raw sugar. shopping list
- About a tsp. of fresh ginger, grated. shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Mix all the above together and stir vigorously.
- 2. Put what you’re going to marinate in a heavy duty plastic bag, like a Ziplock. See Photo
- 3. Add the marinade, squeeze out all the air, stash in the fridge & go surfin. See Photo
- Different stuff marinates for different amounts of time. Fish fillets about 2 hours. Steak for about 4 hours; roasts for about eight hours & chicken overnight (8 hours minimum).
