I love Oriental food. It’s generally light and flavorful. If you’re going to make Oriental food you need Hoisin Sauce. You can probably buy this. I have no idea what store bought’s like. This recipe makes about 1/3 cup and that lasts me 3 months.

- • 4 Tbs. soy sauce, I use light soy.
- • 2 Tbs. creamy peanut butter.
- • 1 Tbs. molasses or 1 Tbs. honey.
- • 2 tsp. seasoned rice vinegar.
- • 1 clove garlic, finely minced.
- • 2 tsp. sesame seed oil.
- • 1 tsp. Chinese hot sauce (more or less to taste).
- • 1⁄8 tsp. black pepper.

Ingredients

• 4 Tbs. soy sauce, I use light soy. shopping list

• 2 tsp. seasoned rice vinegar. shopping list
• 1 clove garlic, finely minced. shopping list
• 2 tsp. sesame seed oil. shopping list
• 1 tsp. Chinese hot sauce (more or less to taste). shopping list
• 1⁄8 tsp. black pepper. shopping list

How to make it

1. Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl.
2. Mix with a whisk until well blended. See Photo
This works in a lot of dishes. I don’t refrigerate it. Make sure the bottle is tightly sealed and it last at least three months in the pantry.

this sounds really good rj. i've tried store bought hoisin but find it too sweet. i like all the ingredients in this and of course 'home made' is always better. thanks for posting. bookmarked to try.
