How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Boil raisins and water until only half a cup of liquid remains.
  • Cool.
  • Stir together baking soda, flour, and salt.
  • Beat egg and then gradually beat in sugar and cooled raisins with liquid.
  • Fold in flour mixture, then stir in vanilla.
  • Lastly, add margarine.
  • Bake in an 8 inch greased and floured pan for 30-35 minutes.
  • Ice with the frosting.
  • Frosting instructions:
  • In saucepan place brown sugar, salt, milk and butter.
  • Bring slowly to a boiling point, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • Cool and then add icing sugar.
  • Beat well.
