Whiskey Chai

- 2 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces shopping list
- 20 black peppercorns shopping list
- 16 whole cloves shopping list
- 8 cardamom pods, seeds removed from the shopping list

- 1 teaspoon ground ginger shopping list
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg shopping list
- 1 quart whole milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar shopping list
- 1 tablespoon loose black tea shopping list
- 3 ounces bourbon or rye whiskey shopping list
How to make it
- Step 1 In spice grinder, pulse all of the spices to a powder.
- Step 2 In a saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer. Remove from the heat. Add the spices, sugar and tea and let stand for 10 minutes. Strain the chai into a bowl. Wipe out the saucepan.
- Step 3 Return the chai to the saucepan and rewarm over moderate heat. Stir in the whiskey and serve hot.
