Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat oven to 325 F
  • In a large bowl, add butter and blend with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Add the powdered sugar and continue mixing until well combined.
  • Scrap down the sides of the bowl and combine thoroughly.
  • Add flour and mix at low speed until well blended.
  • The mixture will be crumbly and soft.
  • Pat dough into an ungreased cookie sheet that is lined with parchment paper, leaving the edges of the parchment paper hanging off the sides to make it easy to lift the cookies out.
  • Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until the edges begin to turn dark gold.
  • Do NOT over bake.
  • ~ ~ ~
  • Alternatively you can roll out the dough so that it is about 1/4 of an inch thick and cut out your shapes. You can knead it a bit to help the dough come together, be very careful to not over work the dough.

Delicious! I baked them in a 9x13 pan for 20-25 minutes. Just make sure to dock the dough with a fork before baking, and cut into your bars when the shortbread is still hot!
I let them age for 3 days at room temperature, which I usually do for any type of shortbread. But I must admit to trying a few before aging and they were still delicious! ;)

Made these this morning and ate far too many. So good and so simple to make! Not leaving any of these out for Santa.
