Ingredients

How to make it

  • Place all ingredients in blender and pulse for 3-4 minutes. Store in an airtight container so the spices will not lose their potency. Makes about 3/4 cup.
  • Add 1 ounce mix to every one cup of flour for coating chicken.

Certainly looks like this could be very close to the original KFC mix. I like the suggestions/changes made by dollhead. Any method to remove salt from a recipe is ok by me. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Hi there. I did try this tonight on chicken.......it is awesome-but it needs a little adjustment, so here's what I did:
Instead of using garlic salt and onion salt-I used garlic powder and onion powder, then added about 2 tsp kosher salt.
I test fried a small piece of chicken, but 1 ounce spice mix per cup of flour wasn't enough we felt, so I used 2 ounces per cup of flour. I dredged the chicken in a separate bowl of spice mix, then dipped it in egg, then dredged it again in the flour/spice mix, then oven fried it.
It was outrageously great, and the spice mix (no flour) was very tasty on the fresh corn I made too! Thanks for the great recipe.....I hope you try it......LOL!
