Chimi Burgers

- 1 1/4 pound ground beef chuck shopping list
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 1/2 large red bell pepper, diced shopping list
- 2 garlic cloves, minced shopping list
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano shopping list
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce shopping list
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce shopping list
- salt and pepper shopping list
- 4 good-quality buns, such as Kaiser, split shopping list
- 2 cups thinly sliced cabbage shopping list
- 1 carrot, coarsely chopped shopping list
- 1 red onion, cut into rings shopping list
- 1 tomato, sliced thin shopping list
- 2 tablespoons ketchup shopping list
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise shopping list
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard. shopping list
How to make it
- In a bowl, mix together beef, onion, bell pepper, garlc, oregano, soy sauce, Worcesteshire sauce, salt and pepper.
- Form into 4- 41/2-inch-wide patties.
- Heat a 12-inch heavy skillet or large griddle over medium heat until hot, then lightly toast the buns.
- Oil skillet or griddle, the cook the patties, turn only once during cooking. About 4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
- Transfer patties to buns.
- In a bowl, mix together cabbage, carrot and salt.
- Cook in the skillet, turning occasionally, until slightly wilted. About 2 minutes. I also added a splash of balsamic vinegar to the skillet. Divide among burgers.
- Oil griddle again, the sear onion and tomato, turning once, until lightly charred, about 2 minutes total.
- Divide among burgers.
- Stir together ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard. Then top each burger with sauce.
- Grab a cold beer and ENJOY!
