How to make it

  • In a bowl, mix together beef, onion, bell pepper, garlc, oregano, soy sauce, Worcesteshire sauce, salt and pepper.
  • Form into 4- 41/2-inch-wide patties.
  • Heat a 12-inch heavy skillet or large griddle over medium heat until hot, then lightly toast the buns.
  • Oil skillet or griddle, the cook the patties, turn only once during cooking. About 4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  • Transfer patties to buns.
  • In a bowl, mix together cabbage, carrot and salt.
  • Cook in the skillet, turning occasionally, until slightly wilted. About 2 minutes. I also added a splash of balsamic vinegar to the skillet. Divide among burgers.
  • Oil griddle again, the sear onion and tomato, turning once, until lightly charred, about 2 minutes total.
  • Divide among burgers.
  • Stir together ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard. Then top each burger with sauce.
  • Grab a cold beer and ENJOY!
