Ingredients
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of butter

Directions
  1. using your favorite cookie cutter,cut a shape out of the center of each piece of bread
  2. break each egg into a seperate bowl
  3. melt the butter inthe frying pan
  4. fry the bread on one side until it is golden brown,then flip it over witha spatula
  5. pour 1egginto the hole in each piece of bread
  6. cover the pan and cook over low heat for about 5 mins,until each egg is done

This sounds good. I have heard of this before but it was called frogs in the hole or one-eyed jacks. I like this one better and it sounds tastier too.

I've had these as a child, they are good.


Maybe I can get my oldest grandson to eat eggs with this one.


We call them birds in a nest . this is one of my kids favorite ways to eat fried eggs ....while cooking them i add a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper ...and mama needs her hot sauce of course ! ;-)

This is a favorite classic . . . we call it egg-in-the-hole, too. Also, love to melt a slice of american cheese on top as it finishes cooking ~ yummy.
