How to make it

  • Drain peach halves, reserving syrup.
  • Combine syrup, cloves, cinnamon sticks, sugar and vinegar in a medium saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, cover and simmer 5 minutes.
  • Removed from heat, add peach halves and cool completely.
  • Refrigerate in an air tight container overnight.
  • Note: Flavor of peaches becomes stronger when stored several days.

    I have been making this recipe for about 10 years. It is absolutely wonderful and the peaches do get "stronger" as they sit in the fridge.
