Sweet And Sour Steak Recipe
This is comfort food at it's best! Has a slight smoky taste from the bacon and fills the house with a wonderful smell! Meat just falls apart!

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs round steak
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1/3 c brown sugar
  • 1/3 c vinegar
  • 2 onions sliced and separated into rings
  • 2 small green peppers, sliced thinly
  • 1/2 lb sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 2 bay leaves (fresh or dried)
  • 1 tbsp Worcesterschire sauce
  • 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 325.
  2. In frying pan, heat oil then brown meat on both sides, adding salt and pepper.
  3. Transfer to large glass baking dish or roaster.
  4. Spread onions, mushrooms, bacon, and green peppers over meat.
  5. In mixing bowl combine the tomatoes, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcesterschire sauce, and bay leaves.
  6. Pour over meat; add salt and pepper if you like.
  7. Cover pan and roast in oven for three hours. You may add some fresh slices of green pepper during the last 1/2 hour of cooking just to add some fresh taste.
  8. Serve with mashed potatoes or polenta. Yum!
