How to make it

  • Place wine and sugar in a saucepan and stir until dissolved.
  • Add pears then cover and simmer gently for 15 minutes turning occasionally.
  • Remove from pan and allow to cool.
  • Melt butter, brown sugar and syrup in a saucepan stirring occasionally.
  • Boil for 3 minutes then stir in the cream.
  • Serve the sauce hot or cold with the pears.
