Poached Pears With Butterscotch Sauce

- 1-1/2 pounds pears peeled halved and cored shopping list
- 1/4 pint white wine shopping list
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar shopping list
- 2 ounces butter shopping list
- 3 ounces soft dark brown sugar shopping list
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup shopping list
- 5 ounces double cream shopping list
- Fresh mint sprigs shopping list
How to make it
- Place wine and sugar in a saucepan and stir until dissolved.
- Add pears then cover and simmer gently for 15 minutes turning occasionally.
- Remove from pan and allow to cool.
- Melt butter, brown sugar and syrup in a saucepan stirring occasionally.
- Boil for 3 minutes then stir in the cream.
- Serve the sauce hot or cold with the pears.
